FAQ

Kasia System

What's the difference between "Local Network," Web Server,", and "UPnP"?

Local network is when you're directly accessing the Hub from your local WiFi network. Web Server and UPnP are both used when you're remotely connecting to your Hub. UPnp is the recommended method of accessing your Hub remotely as it will directly connect to your hub through the internet. Web Server is used when UPnP isn't activated on your router. The Hub creates its own web service to allow you to access it. (Slower)

How do I enable UPnP instead of Web Server on my Hub?

The Hub automatically chooses UPnP when it can. If it isn't, that means that your router either does not have the feature, or it is not enabled. Please check your router settings to enable UPnP.

Kasia Hub

I can't seem to get the hub connected to my router.

The hub's network settings become set after they've been initially configered for secuirty reasons. To reset the hub's network settings to default. Press the reset button in the pin hole for 5 seconds (Hub must be powered on). The hub's network setting will then be set to default.

The hub says it's been registered before?

Please contact us at support@kasiahome.com and send us the Serial number of the Hub. We will then unregister the hub so it may be registered again.

What do the LED colors mean?

How do I factory reset the hub?

With the hub powered on (not booting), use a pin and hold the reset button for 10 seconds. The hub will reboot soon after. This will wipe all data in the hub, but will not remove data from the SD card or unregister the hub from its registered account.

My activity log is blank?

A SD card is required to record any activity data.

The firmware upgrade keeps failing.

Please insert a SD card or you may need to use a newer SD card.

If it's still not working, the SD card need to be formatted to FAT32. It will not work with NTFS or exFAT.

How do I network reset the hub?

Network reset allows you to reset the wifi/ethernet settings if you decide to change how the hub connects to your router. Use a pin and hold the reset button on the hub for 5 seconds.  The hub will reboot soon after.

Can't seem to find how to upgrade the firmware?

You must be on the local network of the hub to have the option to upgrade the firmware.

Kasia Plug

I can't seem to pair the plug?

The plug may be too far from a Hub, Plug or Switch. Try pairing devices closest to the Hub first.

My plug went offline and I can't get it back.

A few things may have gone wrong. First, try moving the plug to the closest active device. If it becomes active again than this is a range issue. You may also repair the device (this will look for new communication routes to the Hub). Repeat the pairing process instructions in the app. If all else fails, please factory reset the plug.

How do I factory reset the plug?

While plugged into the wall, hold the button for 10 seconds. If the LED is on, it will change to orange/green.

What do the LED colors mean?

Green and Orange - Unpaired Device, Orange - Cannot connect to hub, Green - Connected to hub

Power monitoring shows zero watts, but I know my lamp is drawing power?

The plug is able to monitor 5 watts or more. If the lamp/device draws less than 5 watts, it may show as zero.

The Power Monitoring History log shows zero, but it's currently shows the wattage. What's wrong?

An SD card is required to record the power draw data.

What is Smart Monitoring?

Smart monitoring disables the status of the device as either on/off, but allows you monitor when something is drawing power.

For example, if you have smart monitoring enabled for a TV, you can tell through the app when it's in use or not.

Kasia Switch

I can't seem to pair the switch?

The switch may be too far from a Hub, Plug or Switch. Try pairing devices closest to the Hub first.

I can't find a neutral wire (white wire).

The switch requires a neutral wire to work. Old houses tend not to have a neutral wire. Try checking an area in the house that has been more recently remodeled.

What do the LED colors mean?

Green and Orange - Unpaired Device, Orange - Cannot connect to hub, Green - Connected to hub

My switch went offline and I can't get it back.

Try repairing the device (this will look for new communication routes to the Hub). Repeat the pairing process instructions in the app.

How do I factory reset the switch?

You can use it as long as there is a Hub, Switch, or Plug nearby.

Kasia Presence

How many Presence tags can I use?

You can have up to 18 installed. However, every additional custom geofence location will reduce this number by 1.

How many should be in each room?

In general, 2 presences are recommended for most rooms. If you have a complicated living room with multiple entrances, you may want to add a third or fourth one to encompass all entrances.

How do I factory reset the Presence?

Presence has no need to be factory resetted. If you want to repair it, do so freely.

Can I use one per room?

Yes you can. However, there may be more false positives.

What are the sensitivity settings and how do they work?

Use 'Low' when you're getting too many false positives. Use 'High' when you want it to respond when you're further away.

I can't seem to get it to pair?

Please make sure your Bluetooth is enabled on your device. Your phone must also support Bluetooth 4.0 or higher.

Also make sure there's a faint orange flash through the pinhole after you press the button to confirm that it's trying to pair.

If there is not orange flash, please try pressing at other angels or check the battery.

Can only one device trigger presence actions?

Only one device per account can trigger the presence sensors. You can confirm/change the device in the settings menu.
If you want multiple devices to trigger, we suggest creating a user account for the alternate device.

What's the optimal way to setup a presence rule?

Condition: ANYONE is PRESENT at ROOM

Effect: Light 1 is ON

Otherwise: Light 1 is OFF

It's all setup, but it's not working?

Make sure bluetooth is on.

Check your settings to confirm that your devices it the primary device for presence on that account.

Check the batteries.

Does it matter how I place the presence sensors?

Yes! The adhesive side of the presence has a metal plate that helps prevent the signal from being sent in that direction. Hence, the presence should be placed to face into the room and not out for better accuracy.
